Mars attacks farm in Fairbanks while viewers look on with FAU telescope.
5 below temperatures at Creamers farmhouse on Jan 30th is warmer than Mars in summer.
Nearly 80 folks lined up to see Mars opposition in the 17.5" Cosmic Cannon to get the big scene.
Mars won't be as close again until 2014.

Dome has landed


Friday July 17th the 10' dome was delivered to the observatory pad.
Saturday the 18th we cut a hole in the middle of the dome to put the telescope on a concrete pier flush with the ground.

Welcome to FAU' blog


Welcome. FAU - Fairbanks Astronomical Unit has had a busy year. We will try to catch you up on all the happenings. At this point the 10' observatory dome has made its way to the Alpencrest property at the intersection of Spinach Creek and Old Murphy Dome Roads near Fairbanks Alaska. Expect weekly updates of photos.
